How I Used CBD
Honey as a Face Mask

By Dan Dissinger - January 26th, 2020

CBD is not only super effective on its own, but it also works well with other holistic remedies, specifically organic honey, which is having its own moment as a super-food. This is why OrganiCBD created CBD Honey, a jar of 100% raw locally farmed honey with 500mg of organic CBD. Not only can the OrganiCBD Honey be used in recipes or eaten on its own, it can also be used as a DIY face mask.

CBD strengthens the anti-inflammatory power of organic honey facial masks to fight breakouts, reduce redness, and moisturize your skin, all because of CBD’s natural anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. I wanted to learn firsthand about the holistic power of organic CBD honey facial masks, so I tried it out for myself with the best organic CBD honey on the market, OrganiCBD Honey. Here’s what I learned about the healing properties of CBD and honey, and what my face mask experience was like.

What is CBD?

CBD, or Cannabidiol, is one of the many natural compounds found in the cannabis plant. CBD provides similar medicinal benefits to THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), but without the “high.” Because our bodies naturally have a built-in endocannabinoid system, there are specific cannabinoid receptors that provide us with specific relief, similar to targeted relief from acupuncture. CBD can be an alternative for many issues or at least a collaborative element. It’s not a cure-all but making CBD part of your everyday routine can positively impact your quality of life.

CBD Honey from Southern California

Much like cannabis, honey has a long medicinal history, especially in traditional Ayurveda practices. In Ayurveda, honey has many different uses, from digestion to heart health, anemia to insomnia; there are layers of health and medicinal benefits from routinely using organic honey.

Specifically, honey’s antibacterial properties are a great way to combat and prevent skin breakouts: “Acne and pimples are caused by vitiation of rakta, pitta, and kapha. As honey balances vitiated rakta, pitta, and kapha, its external application helps to reduce acne and pimples.” Using organic honey facial masks is a popular technique to fight acne, reduce redness, and moisturize dry skin.

CBD, much like honey, aids in reducing inflammation, which is at the root of many issues regarding acne. Now you can have the best of both these organic treatments working as a team to keep your skin healthy thanks to OrganiCBD Honey.

The OrganiCBD Honey Mask

I wanted to experience the power of a CBD Honey mask for myself. Because my face gets seriously inflamed and irritated after I shave, I figured using OrganiCBD Honey as a post-shave facial mask would be best. After shaving, I cleansed my face with cold water before applying the honey. I usually cleanse my face with cold water to alleviate my irritated skin, which I found did not do as much to ease the redness and inflammation as using this honey mask.

You only need to use about a teaspoon of CBD Honey for the facial mask, because a little goes a long way. My neck gets the most irritated when I shave, so I focused the majority of the teaspoon of OrganiCBD Honey on that area. The mask quickly started to calm my neck, which inspired me to also apply it to my cheeks, forehead, and the bridge of my nose. I left it on while doing things around the apartment. You should leave the mask on for at least 20 minutes, though the longer the better. Make sure you wear a shirt you’re not too attached to, because the honey will drip. Luckily the CBD oil in OrganiCBD’s Honey kept it from dripping as much conventional honey.

When you’re ready to wash the honey off, use only warm water and gently use your hands to cleanse the honey off, or use a wet washcloth. There’s no need to use an additional cleanser. You don’t want to over-cleanse your face, because you want the organic honey and CBD enzymes to keep doing their jobs.

I’ve tried traditional facial masks before and not experienced such immediate results. The OrganiCBD Honey calmed down my irritated skin, and left it feeling extremely soft. My face stayed soft for a couple of days after the mask. Just like anything that has to do with CBD and/or skincare, you’ll see the best results if you make it part of your routine, about 1 to 2 times a week. You could even make it part of your nightly regimen.

Manuka honey has been my go to for face mask. After reading this, I’m excited to try CBD Honey as an alternative.
